Valley Loop Trail, Yosemite National Park
From Swinging Bridge to Vernal Fall Footbridge
Total distance walked: 5.5 miles
Last month I spent six days in Rome. Soon after, my sister and I hiked through Yosemite, surrounded by towering granite cliffs.

Both places have taught me patience, presence, and perspective. I love them in different ways.

Yosemite has shown me, among other things, nature’s scale.

Rome deepened my connection to my faith.

Different places. Different paths. Same lessons.

And both have changed me.
It’s amazing how travelling, whether near or far, can teach us so much about the world and about ourselves.

Love how the Yosemite’s “Half Dome” is followed by an image of Rome’s dome – there’s a lovely synergy there – and perhaps (speaking as an architect now) being cradled within a dome, is the grounding presence that unites both places. wonderful! Linda xx

Oh wow! I didn’t even think about that! Thanks for commenting. I’ll go back and look at the photos with that thought in mind.
