Mariposa County

We awoke to a scenic winter wonderland. Snow!

Overnight snow fell softly and gently covering the area with a velvety blanket of white. It is unusual here in the foothills of California to get so much snow.

All was quiet at 8 AM when Andrew and I bundled up, strapped on snowshoes and headed down the frosty road.

Shuffling through the powdery snow, we felt a surge of cheerfulness, prompting me to burst into a round of “Jingle Bells”. To my dismay, my son was mortified and pleaded with me to stop.

Heading home.

When we returned home from our first-ever snowshoe trek through the backroads of our neighborhood, we let our two rambunctious dogs out to play.

Pepper

They frolicked across the snow-capped yard, chasing the icy snowballs we tossed their way.

Ginger preferred a stick to snowballs.

We built a snowman in front of the house. Once it was complete, Pepper jumped on it trying to eat its carrot nose, knocking it to the ground.

As shimmering snowflakes fell from the sky, we reassembled the jersey-clad football fan.

Snow! How blessed we were to have received plenty of it!
