There’s often not enough time to enjoy an outdoor hiking adventure, so a picnic is a pleasant pacifier. Sitting in the shade while eating lunch under a canopy of trees for an hour helps bridge the gap between hikes and gets us outside during busy weeks.

We picnicked today in Jerseydale about three miles from home. This little known, off-the-beaten-path campground in the Sierra National Forest is a great place to experience the peace and quiet of nature.

Here in this secluded sanctuary you’ll notice the flapping of birds’ wings, and hear the deep low of mooing cows in the nearby pasture.

This afternoon’s enjoyable excursion didn’t take much effort but was full of rewards.

That’s nice! Sounds like fun.

It’s a place that maybe we’ll take you someday. We were actually headed to Briceburg, but the 140 was closed so we ended up at Jerseydale. We thought about going to Butterfly Creek, but we were just there not long ago.
