Carlon Falls, Yosemite National Park
Total distance walked: 2 miles
The unmarked path leading to Carlon Falls starts within the Stanislaus National Forest, situated on the northern bank of the South Fork of the Tuolumne River. This trail proceeds to enter Yosemite through a metallic labyrinth.

I trekked solo through the shady forest enroute to Carlon Falls. Spider webs draped over the path brushed my face as I disrupted their unseen traps.

A sandy path following the river’s edge wound its way to a secluded beach.

The path veered away from the water, ascending steeply along an eroded hillside, then descending a slippery slope before returning towards the water. As I approached the falls, the path became less distinct. Navigating over boulders and rocks, I blazed my own trail.

Surveying the surroundings, I eventually discovered a faint animal trail and ascended to the next plateau. I wandered up and down, attempting to find my way to the cascading waters. Finally, I discovered the route and carefully made my way down to the water.

Glancing upward, the missed trail became apparent. The return journey was much simpler on the right path.

There’s something truly special about creating your own path and discovering the beauty of nature on your terms.

It was another great day in Yosemite!
Beautiful photos! I totally agree with your profile statement.
