Walking Through My Neighborhood
Total Distance: 4.48 miles
In the Catholic tradition of Christianity, May is the month we celebrate Mary, the Mother of God. How fitting then, that Mother’s Day is celebrated in the same month.
Today as I walked through my neighborhood looking at all of the wildflowers growing here, I gave thanks for how blessed I am to have so much beauty surrounding me.
Happy Mother’s Day to all moms who are reading this. You are blessed!
Hail Mary: Gentle Woman, by Cary Landry.
morning star, so strong and bright,
teach us wisdom, teach us love.
You were chosen by the Father;
you were chosen for the Son.
You were chosen from all women
and for woman shining one.
Blessed are you among women,
Blessed in turn all women too.
Blessed they with peaceful spirits.
Blessed they with gentle hearts.
Gentle woman, quite light, morning star, so strong and bright,
gentle Mother, peaceful dove, teach us wisdom, teach us love.

What marvelous flowers (and butterfly) you have here to share! A world of beauty.
I couldn’t believe how many wildflowers there were once I really opened my eyes. There were more, but I ran out of space to go with the words. 🙂 Thank you for commenting!
Janet… Your stunning pictures matched with a beautiful prayer has given me a feeling of peace. Also? What a wonderful neighborhood you must live in! WOW!
Thank you, Ellen. I was quite surprised, once I really looked at everything, how many wildflowers are growing around here. 🙂
Beautiful Janet, I was going through my email while stopped for over 2 hours now Hbetween Stockton and Disco bay. It made me appreciate the scenery of the delta and also see the beautiful flower pictures. I enjoyed the prayer too. I went to the bay area to sing as an alumni in the Gospel Choir at LMC. Happy Mothers Day!
How great that you were able to sing, Michelle! That sounds like a lot of fun. The Hail Mary, Gentle Woman is actually a song we sing in church. Happy Mother’s Day to you too!
And blessed are your parents who are lucky enough to have you as the mother of so many of their grand children.
Thank you, Dad. That was a nice comment. I miss you.
Thank you for being the mother of my children and teaching me to enjoy the beauty around us every day.
Thank you, Love. 🙂
Happy Mothers day Janet. It’s amazing what you can see on a walk through the ‘Neighborhood’. I’m going to Santa Cruz, Carmel and Monterey next week. Let’s see what that neighborhood yields,………Dan
And so much more beautiful in person. 🙂 Thanks for reading.
Janet, I enjoyed this walk around your neighborhood, looking at the beauties of spring. We don’t have any flowers yet, but it is finally spring. Are there any threats of wildfires in your area?
P.S. Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to you!
🙂 Thank you!
So interesting how our springs are very different from each other. No threats of fire yet that I know of. But I’m sure you know about the So Cal fires.
What wondrous images and matching sentiment. I enjoyed taking your walk with you. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier today, as your visit led me back to you.
Thank you, Patti for stopping by and commenting. The trip you took looked like it was loads of fun.
