Walking Through My Neighborhood
Total Distance: 4.48 miles

In the Catholic tradition of Christianity, May is the month we celebrate Mary, the Mother of God. How fitting then, that Mother’s Day is celebrated in the same month.

Today as I walked through my neighborhood looking at all of the wildflowers growing here, I gave thanks for how blessed I am to have so much beauty surrounding me.

Happy Mother’s Day to all moms who are reading this. You are blessed!

Hail Mary: Gentle Woman, by Cary Landry.

Gentle woman,

quiet light,

morning star, so strong and bright,

gentle Mother,

peaceful dove,

teach us wisdom, teach us love.

You were chosen by the Father;

you were chosen for the Son.

You were chosen from all women

and for woman shining one.

Blessed are you among women,

Blessed in turn all women too.

Blessed they with peaceful spirits.

Blessed they with gentle hearts.

Gentle woman, quite light, morning star, so strong and bright,

gentle Mother, peaceful dove, teach us wisdom, teach us love.
What marvelous flowers (and butterfly) you have here to share! A world of beauty.

I couldn’t believe how many wildflowers there were once I really opened my eyes. There were more, but I ran out of space to go with the words. 🙂 Thank you for commenting!

Beautiful Janet, I was going through my email while stopped for over 2 hours now Hbetween Stockton and Disco bay. It made me appreciate the scenery of the delta and also see the beautiful flower pictures. I enjoyed the prayer too. I went to the bay area to sing as an alumni in the Gospel Choir at LMC. Happy Mothers Day!

How great that you were able to sing, Michelle! That sounds like a lot of fun. The Hail Mary, Gentle Woman is actually a song we sing in church. Happy Mother’s Day to you too!

Janet, I enjoyed this walk around your neighborhood, looking at the beauties of spring. We don’t have any flowers yet, but it is finally spring. Are there any threats of wildfires in your area?

So interesting how our springs are very different from each other. No threats of fire yet that I know of. But I’m sure you know about the So Cal fires.
